747 Captain Warwick Dunnett Releases ‘Dance with Angels’ Audiobook, a Memoir of Grief, Love, and Healing After Loss

SAUSALITO, CA, UNITED STATES, September 21, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Lighthouse Lane Books has released the audiobook edition of Dance with Angels: A Story of Loss, Discovery, Love and Healing by Warwick Dunnett, a retired Boeing 747 captain who spent a decade comparing religious, scientific, and spiritual beliefs about the afterlife, and what helps in recovery after the death of his son.

With the audiobook’s release, the book is now available in five formats: audiobook, ebook, paperback, hardcover and a signed special edition.

For much of his career, Dunnett flew one of the world’s largest passenger aircraft, a profession built on checklists, procedures, and knowing what to do next. When his 20-year-old son, Harrison, a young musician known on stage as Subversive, died suddenly in 2016, there was no procedure to follow.

What began as a father’s search for meaning became a ten-year exploration of religion, science, and spirituality, centered on questions many people ask after a loss: what happens after we die, and how do those left behind find happiness again?

In “Dance with Angels”, Dunnett writes about thoughts many grieving parents keep to themselves, including the anger and guilt that can follow a sudden death and the “what ifs” surrounding the life a child might have lived.

Dunnett, who questions traditional religious doctrine and did not find comfort in the idea that his son’s death was “part of God’s plan,” also acknowledges the support that faith, community, and belief provide to many grieving families. The book presents his research and experiences without advocating a single belief system.

“I lost my son and had to accept and come to terms with death eventually. It wasn’t easy, and I still struggle with it,” Dunnett writes in Dance with Angels.
Reflecting on why grief can linger, he adds: “We do everything we can to avoid sitting with that pain. It is hard to face, and therefore, our recovery from loss takes longer.”

The book’s title was inspired by TobyMac’s song “21 Years,” written after the singer lost his own son. Dunnett has said the song resonated with him in the years following Harrison’s death.
