C.J. Lawrence® (“CJL”), a division of Apollon Wealth Management, LLC, today announced the launch of the Buffered Bulldog ETF (ACJL), an exchange-traded fund that brings CJL’s “Bulldog” equity strategy to the ETF market, complemented by an options overlay on the S&P 500.
ACJL invests in a concentrated portfolio of approximately 30 to 50 U.S.-listed equities, drawing on C.J. Lawrence’s longstanding Bulldog investment philosophy. The team identifies durable, long-term investment themes and applies fundamental research to select companies it believes are well-positioned to benefit from those trends. Its high-conviction approach emphasizes businesses with durable competitive advantages, market leadership, pricing power, strong balance sheets, and the ability to gain and defend market share. The portfolio is actively managed and is not constructed to track an index.
“Our Bulldog philosophy starts with identifying enduring investment themes and the companies we believe are best positioned to benefit from them,” said Bernhard Koepp, Senior Portfolio Manager and Managing Director of C.J. Lawrence. “We use fundamental research to seek out strong management teams, differentiated businesses and durable competitive advantages. ACJL brings that longstanding, high-conviction approach to investors through an actively managed ETF.”
ACJL complements its active Bulldog equity portfolio with a systematic options overlay on the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) that resets quarterly. Each quarter, the overlay is designed to cap SPY’s upside at 5% and buffer the next 15% of SPY losses following an initial 5% decline.
“The launch of ACJL expands how investors can access the investment expertise within Apollon,” said Michael Dolberg, CEO and Co-Founder of Apollon Wealth Management. “It brings a longstanding, differentiated investment approach to the ETF market while expanding the capabilities available across our organization.”
The Buffered Bulldog ETF seeks capital appreciation and is actively managed. Tidal Investments LLC serves as the Fund’s investment adviser, with C.J. Lawrence, a division of Apollon Wealth Management, LLC, serving as investment sub-adviser.
