NCMS Selects Avathon for Top Award in 2026 CTMA Technology Competition
PR Newswire
PLEASANTON, Calif., Nov. 3, 2026
PLEASANTON, Calif., Nov. 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — We are thrilled to announce that The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) has selected Avathon Government as the winner of the 2026 Commercial Technologies for Maintenance Activities (CTMA) Technology Competition, acknowledging Avathon as the most innovative maintenance and sustainment technology in use for DoW operations.
Avathon Government’s technology presentation, Digital Maintenance Advisor: Prescriptive AI to Operationalize Nondestructive Inspection, was recognized for delivering the most impactful and mission-relevant solution and, as a result, received the top innovation award from a field of 36 entries. Digital Maintenance Advisor (DMA) is an AI-powered software system that integrates maintenance records, inspection data, and technical guidance into a unified decision-support framework that addresses asset management and sustainment challenges.
Avathon’s DMA—one of numerous defense and commercial applications within the AI-native Avathon Autonomy Platform—optimizes and accelerates maintenance decision-making while also improving operational execution, resulting in faster return of critical defense assets to mission-ready status. By diagnosing, prescribing, and guiding maintainers through optimized workflows, DMA reduces troubleshooting times by up to 30%, improving precision and accuracy, enhancing worker safety, and lowering dependence on potentially scarce subject matter experts. The system integrates into existing maintenance and operating workflows without disrupting current inspection or maintenance processes, employing a modular architecture that enables flexible integration with legacy systems.
Art Sellers, Avathon Government President and General Manager, said, “Our technology is important because it creates a trustworthy knowledge platform with industrial AI that transforms readiness for our maintainers across industry and defense. It means so much to be recognized by this community, especially with the great technology CTMA has delivered for readiness. We’re honored to be recognized for the work our great team continues to do to serve our Armed Forces and protect our Nation.”
NCMS has awarded Avathon Government with funding to support a future CTMA project, enabling Avathon to provide future demonstrations for the DoW. For more information on the CTMA Technology Competition, visit: https://ncms.org/ctma-technology-competition.
